Allele Missing Ploidy Support Flag Tool

Count support under an explicit ploidy assumption without inferring genotype or species ploidy.

Description

Multiply expected alleles, clamp missing at zero and flag observations above expected.

Population-genetic probabilities depend on copy counts, ploidy, effective size and model assumptions. A neutral fixation identity and a selected diffusion approximation describe different conditions; neither guarantees an actual evolutionary outcome.

Multiply expected alleles, clamp missing at zero and flag observations above expected.

When to use this tool

Use Allele Missing Ploidy Support Flag when you need the stated population-count, coalescent or fixation-model term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observedAlleles, individuals, suppliedPloidy. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read expectedAlleles, missing, exceedsExpected. Inspect exceedsExpected before interpreting the associated values.

Require nonnegative integer observed alleles/individuals and positive integer ploidy. Multiply expected alleles, clamp missing at zero and flag observations above expected.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Over-observation is diagnostic rather than rejected. Ploidy and counts are supplied, without genotype calling, sample identity or biological validation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the appropriate population-genetic analysis and data to estimate effective size, selection and uncertainty. Keep actual census counts, effective population conventions and discrete versus continuous-time approximations distinct.
