Allele Count Frequency Residual Tool

Calculate allele count frequency residual from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return allele/called frequency and observed-minus-supplied residual.

Population-genetic probabilities depend on copy counts, ploidy, effective size and model assumptions. A neutral fixation identity and a selected diffusion approximation describe different conditions; neither guarantees an actual evolutionary outcome.

Return allele/called frequency and observed-minus-supplied residual.

When to use this tool

Use Allele Count Frequency Residual when you need the stated population-count, coalescent or fixation-model term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter alleleCount, calledAlleles, suppliedFrequency. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read observedFrequency, residual. Use the output convention below.

Require positive calledAlleles, alleleCount within it and supplied frequency in [0, 1]. Return allele/called frequency and observed-minus-supplied residual.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The denominator is called alleles rather than individuals or expected copies. No genotype quality, missingness correction or population-frequency inference is performed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the appropriate population-genetic analysis and data to estimate effective size, selection and uncertainty. Keep actual census counts, effective population conventions and discrete versus continuous-time approximations distinct.
