Description
Return copy frequency as neutral fixationProbability.
Population-genetic fitness models use explicit allele frequencies, genotype fitnesses and generation rules. Relative fitness and a selection coefficient require a sign convention, and a deterministic update describes a model rather than an observed population trajectory.
Return copy frequency as neutral fixationProbability.
When to use this tool
Use Fixation Probability Neutral Copy Term when you need a supplied one-step fitness or allele-frequency relationship.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter copies, ploidy, population. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read frequency, fixationProbability. Use the output convention below.
Require positive integer ploidy/population and copies from zero through their product. Return copy frequency as neutral fixationProbability.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| copies | Copies | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| ploidy | Ploidy | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| population | Population | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| frequency | Frequency | Required. Finite number. |
| fixationProbability | Initial allele-copy frequency under the neutral model, not a guaranteed outcome. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Equality of initial frequency and fixation probability assumes the neutral finite-population model. It is not a guarantee of fixation, a time estimate or a selected-allele formula.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a population model appropriate to mating, selection, mutation, migration and drift. Estimate parameters and uncertainty from suitable data instead of treating a supplied model step as a prediction.
