Description
Separate membrane permeate recovery from concentrate volume under a two-stream balance.
Environmental engineering quantities depend on compatible mass/volume units, reference levels, usable geometry and complete flow boundaries. Nominal bed volume differs from pore-water volume, and hydraulic surface loading differs from pore velocity. A supplied removal or recovery fraction does not establish actual treatment performance or safe operation.
Separate membrane permeate recovery from concentrate volume under a two-stream balance.
When to use this tool
Use Membrane Recovery Concentrate Share when checking the stated benign engineering mass, volume, reference or throughput term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter feedVolume, permeateVolume. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read recoveryFraction, concentrateVolume, concentrateFraction. Use the output convention below.
Require feedVolume>0 and permeateVolume within [0,feed]. Return permeate/feed recovery, feed-permeate concentrate volume and its feed-volume fraction.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| feedVolume | Feed Volume | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| permeateVolume | Permeate Volume | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| recoveryFraction | Recovery Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| concentrateVolume | Feed-permeate under a two-stream balance with no losses or storage change. | Required. Finite number. |
| concentrateFraction | Concentrate Fraction | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Assumes only these two volume streams without losses/storage change; no solute rejection, membrane condition or suitable recovery target is determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use measured operating conditions, verified equipment properties and a complete suitable process model with qualified engineering/environmental review for actual design and operation.
