Aeration Oxygen Transfer Supplied Factor Tool

Explicit alpha/beta oxygen-transfer correction with a supplied temperature factor and matching saturation reference.

Loading tool…

Description

Return drivingForceFraction = (beta*cleanSaturation-processDissolved)/cleanSaturation and actualTransferRate = standardTransferRate*alpha*temperatureFactor*drivingForceFraction.

Air-change and transfer calculations relate a volume, flow, time and driving force under an assumed model. Nominal air exchange or a well-mixed exponential response differs from measured clearance, spatial mixing and contaminant-specific treatment.

Return drivingForceFraction = (beta*cleanSaturation-processDissolved)/cleanSaturation and actualTransferRate = standardTransferRate*alpha*temperatureFactor*drivingForceFraction.

When to use this tool

Use Aeration Oxygen Transfer Supplied Factor when checking a supplied ventilation, concentration-decay or oxygen-transfer term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter standardTransferRate, alpha, beta, cleanSaturation, processDissolved, temperatureFactor. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read drivingForceFraction, actualTransferRate. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative standardTransferRate, alpha, beta and processDissolved and positive cleanSaturation and temperatureFactor. Return drivingForceFraction = (beta*cleanSaturation-processDissolved)/cleanSaturation and actualTransferRate = standardTransferRate*alpha*temperatureFactor*drivingForceFraction.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • alpha, beta and temperatureFactor are dimensionless supplied corrections, not calculated water-property models. A negative driving force yields negative transfer without clamping. No oxygen demand, aerator selection or operational safety is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use measured effective airflow and a suitable mixing or transport model before drawing conclusions about treatment performance or exposure.
