Description
Calculate a supplied ecosystem-service unit-benefit term.
Environmental valuation separates measured quantities, supplied unit values, accounting flows and assumed counterfactuals. A permit balance differs from a verified registry holding, and an avoided-tonne cost requires a defined baseline and cost boundary. Income-adjusted benefit transfer depends on a supplied elasticity rather than establishing transferable welfare benefits.
Calculate a supplied ecosystem-service unit-benefit term.
When to use this tool
Use Ecosystem Service Unit Benefit when you already have serviceUnits, suppliedBenefitPerUnit and need to calculate a supplied ecosystem-service unit-benefit term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter serviceUnits, suppliedBenefitPerUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read benefit. Use the output convention below.
Require serviceUnits>=0; multiply by suppliedBenefitPerUnit, retaining its sign.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| serviceUnits | Service Units | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| suppliedBenefitPerUnit | Supplied Benefit Per Unit | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| benefit | Benefit | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No service quantity, monetary valuation, welfare benefit or suitable payment is estimated; units and valuation boundaries must match.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the complete emissions, cost, valuation and registry records for an actual environmental assessment. Review the relevant accounting boundary and applicable rules before combining local payment, exemption or unit-benefit terms into a policy conclusion.
