Description
Calculate an allocated-permit auction payment at a supplied clearing price.
Environmental valuation separates measured quantities, supplied unit values, accounting flows and assumed counterfactuals. A permit balance differs from a verified registry holding, and an avoided-tonne cost requires a defined baseline and cost boundary. Income-adjusted benefit transfer depends on a supplied elasticity rather than establishing transferable welfare benefits.
Calculate an allocated-permit auction payment at a supplied clearing price.
When to use this tool
Use Permit Auction Clearing Payment Term when you already have allocatedPermits, clearingPrice and need to calculate an allocated-permit auction payment at a supplied clearing price.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter allocatedPermits, clearingPrice. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read payment. Use the output convention below.
Require allocatedPermits>=0; return allocatedPermits*clearingPrice, preserving a signed price.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| allocatedPermits | Nonnegative supplied quantity; fractional allocations are accepted. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| clearingPrice | Signed price per permit in the same permit class and currency basis. | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| payment | Payment | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use a compatible permit and currency basis. No auction is cleared, allocation verified or applicable payment rule determined.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the complete emissions, cost, valuation and registry records for an actual environmental assessment. Review the relevant accounting boundary and applicable rules before combining local payment, exemption or unit-benefit terms into a policy conclusion.
