Description
beforeCap = opening+earned-used-expired; carried = min(carryCap,beforeCap); forfeited = max(0,beforeCap-carryCap).
Energy contracts and credit accounts distinguish quantities accrued, used, available, curtailed, expired or qualified. A numeric balance applies an explicit convention; it does not establish which contractual or market rules actually apply.
beforeCap = opening+earned-used-expired; carried = min(carryCap,beforeCap); forfeited = max(0,beforeCap-carryCap).
When to use this tool
Use Energy Credit Rollover Expiry when reconciling a specified energy credit, allocation or settlement term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter opening, earned, used, expired, carryCap. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read beforeCap, carried, forfeited. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative opening, earned, used, expired and carryCap, with used+expired <= opening+earned. beforeCap = opening+earned-used-expired; carried = min(carryCap,beforeCap); forfeited = max(0,beforeCap-carryCap).1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| opening | Opening | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| earned | Earned | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| used | Used | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| expired | Expired | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| carryCap | Carry Cap | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| beforeCap | Before Cap | Required. Finite number. |
| carried | Carried | Required. Finite number. |
| forfeited | Forfeited | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- All amounts share the same credit unit. Expiry precedes the carry cap; actual credit policy and entitlement are not established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review actual program rules, contract terms and dated records before treating a calculated balance or payment as due.
