Description
Return an offset-corrected sample clock phase only when the supplied offset is known.
Endocrine sampling can be labeled relative to a declared periodic origin. Wrapped clock phase, cycle count and biological circadian phase are different concepts; a supplied offset or period is not a physiological measurement.
Return an offset-corrected sample clock phase only when the supplied offset is known.
When to use this tool
Use Sample Clock Phase Known Offset when mapping a supplied sampling time onto a declared cycle.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter clockMinutes, offsetMinutes, offsetKnown, periodMinutes. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read phaseKnown, referencePhase. Inspect phaseKnown before interpreting the associated values.
Require positive periodMinutes. phaseKnown echoes offsetKnown. When known, referencePhase is (clockMinutes-offsetMinutes) wrapped modulo periodMinutes; otherwise referencePhase is zero.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| clockMinutes | Clock Minutes | Required. Finite number. |
| offsetMinutes | Offset Minutes | Required. Finite number. |
| offsetKnown | Offset Known | Required. Boolean. |
| periodMinutes | Period Minutes | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| phaseKnown | Phase Known | Required. Boolean. |
| referencePhase | Offset-corrected phase in minutes, or zero placeholder when phaseKnown is false. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The offset is subtracted, not added. Read the zero placeholder with phaseKnown; no individual circadian alignment is measured or inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use an appropriate biological timing assessment and synchronized records when real circadian phase matters.
