Description
convertedValue = reportedValue*suppliedFactor; referenceGap = convertedValue-referenceValue.
Assay ratios and reference comparisons require compatible units, molecular forms and calibration. A nonzero denominator or valid logarithm domain is a numerical property, not proof of measurement validity or a clinical interpretation.
convertedValue = reportedValue*suppliedFactor; referenceGap = convertedValue-referenceValue.
When to use this tool
Use Assay Unit Reference Factor when checking a supplied assay ratio, conversion or reference gap.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter reportedValue, suppliedFactor, referenceValue. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read convertedValue, referenceGap. Use the output convention below.
Require positive suppliedFactor. convertedValue = reportedValue*suppliedFactor; referenceGap = convertedValue-referenceValue. The factor converts the source quantity into the reference's unit and molecular-form basis.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| reportedValue | Reported Value | Required. Finite number. |
| suppliedFactor | Supplied Factor | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| referenceValue | Reference Value | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| convertedValue | Converted Value | Required. Finite number. |
| referenceGap | Reference Gap | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No factor or assay reference range is selected. Signed values are retained; matching numbers do not establish biological equivalence or a clinical finding.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review assay-specific calibration, molecular-form equivalence and appropriate clinical context before interpreting a result.
