Assay Response Phase Gap Tool

Compare a supplied nonclinical assay timestamp with an explicit cyclic reference, without inferring hormonal rhythms.

Description

Compare a wrapped assay-time phase fraction with a supplied cyclic reference fraction.

Endocrine sampling can be labeled relative to a declared periodic origin. Wrapped clock phase, cycle count and biological circadian phase are different concepts; a supplied offset or period is not a physiological measurement.

Compare a wrapped assay-time phase fraction with a supplied cyclic reference fraction.

When to use this tool

Use Assay Response Phase Gap when mapping a supplied sampling time onto a declared cycle.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter responseAt, phaseOrigin, period, suppliedReferenceFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read phaseFraction, referenceGap. Use the output convention below.

Require positive period and suppliedReferenceFraction in [0,1]. Wrap responseAt-phaseOrigin modulo period using separately reduced coordinates; divide by period for phaseFraction. referenceGap = phaseFraction-suppliedReferenceFraction.1

referenceGapOrdinary phase-fraction subtraction, not shortest circular distance.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The gap is ordinary signed fraction subtraction, not the shortest circular distance. A reference fraction of one is accepted even though wrapped phase represents the cycle origin at zero.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use an appropriate biological timing assessment and synchronized records when real circadian phase matters.
