Description
With drop = supply-zenerVoltage, current = drop/resistance and resistorPower = drop²/resistance.
Ideal electrical component relations assume a stated topology, fixed parameters and coherent units. A local voltage, current or transformation term can be algebraically valid without accounting for parasitics, ratings or safe practical connections.
With drop = supply-zenerVoltage, current = drop/resistance and resistorPower = drop²/resistance.
When to use this tool
Use Zener Series Resistor Power Term when checking one explicit ideal-component or divider relationship.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter supply, zenerVoltage, resistance. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read current, resistorPower. Use the output convention below.
Require supply >= zenerVoltage >= 0 and positive resistance. With drop = supply-zenerVoltage, current = drop/resistance and resistorPower = drop²/resistance.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| resistance | Electrical resistance; use ohms with SI electrical inputs. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| current | Signed electric current; use amperes with SI electrical inputs. | Required. Finite number. |
| resistorPower | Resistor Power | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use volts and ohms for amperes and watts. This assumes a constant Zener voltage and no separate load branch; ratings, regulation and safe operating conditions are not established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete circuit model and qualified practical design when loading, nonlinearity, transients or safety limits matter.
