Description
onBranchConsistent checks forwardCurrent >= -tolerance and abs(anodeMinusCathodeVoltage) <= tolerance.
Ideal electrical component relations assume a stated topology, fixed parameters and coherent units. A local voltage, current or transformation term can be algebraically valid without accounting for parasitics, ratings or safe practical connections.
onBranchConsistent checks forwardCurrent >= -tolerance and abs(anodeMinusCathodeVoltage) <= tolerance.
When to use this tool
Use Electricity: Ideal Diode Branch Drop Check when checking one explicit ideal-component or divider relationship.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter anodeMinusCathodeVoltage, forwardCurrent, tolerance. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.
Require tolerance in [0,1]. onBranchConsistent checks forwardCurrent >= -tolerance and abs(anodeMinusCathodeVoltage) <= tolerance. offBranchConsistent checks abs(forwardCurrent) <= tolerance and anodeMinusCathodeVoltage <= tolerance.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| anodeMinusCathodeVoltage | Anode Minus Cathode Voltage | Required. Finite number. |
| forwardCurrent | Forward Current | Required. Finite number. |
| tolerance | One supplied numeric bound applied separately to current and voltage on their respective scales. | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| result | Object containing the named calculated members below. | Required. Object. |
| result.onBranchConsistent | On Branch Consistent | Calculated result member: boolean. |
| result.offBranchConsistent | Off Branch Consistent | Calculated result member: boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The same numeric tolerance is separately applied to current and voltage on their supplied scales; it is not a dimensionally universal tolerance. Both branches can pass near zero; this is not a real-diode model or safety check.
- Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete circuit model and qualified practical design when loading, nonlinearity, transients or safety limits matter.
