Retention Delay Day Factor Tool

Calculate retention delay day factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

studyDays = elapsedHours/hoursPerStudyDay.

Educational time and material budgets need explicit working time, pauses, transitions, capacity and rate conventions. A numerical schedule allocation is a planning aid, not a validated recommendation for learning pace or an automatically feasible timetable.

studyDays = elapsedHours/hoursPerStudyDay.

When to use this tool

Use Retention Delay Day Factor when checking a supplied teaching, study or assessment-resource budget.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter elapsedHours, hoursPerStudyDay. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read studyDays. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative elapsedHours and positive hoursPerStudyDay. studyDays = elapsedHours/hoursPerStudyDay.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
elapsedHoursElapsed HoursRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
hoursPerStudyDayHours Per Study DayRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The denominator is a declared study-day duration, not necessarily 24 hours or a calendar-day count. No learning or forgetting adjustment is performed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the actual timetable, resources, learner needs and approved policies to assess a practical plan.
