Description
Return planar growth area and directional anisotropy from supplied stretches.
Developmental biological models connect supplied dimensions, counts and growth factors under explicit geometry and sampling assumptions. A local asymmetry or inferred duration is not direct evidence of cell fate, mechanism or abnormal development.
Return planar growth area and directional anisotropy from supplied stretches.
When to use this tool
Use Tissue Growth Anisotropy Principal Ratio when checking one supplied tissue, count or growth-model contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter firstStretch, secondStretch, initialArea. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read anisotropy, finalArea. Use the output convention below.
Return planar growth area and directional anisotropy from supplied stretches. Require positive stretches and nonnegative initialArea; anisotropy = first/second, finalArea = initialArea*first*second.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| firstStretch | First Stretch | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| secondStretch | Second Stretch | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| initialArea | Initial Area | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| anisotropy | Anisotropy | Required. Finite number. |
| finalArea | Final Area | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This assumes compatible principal planar stretches, not a full three-dimensional tissue-mechanics model.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use appropriate biological observations and a complete validated model for developmental interpretation or experimental inference.
