Description
Return two lineage-size ratio conventions and a share.
Developmental biological models connect supplied dimensions, counts and growth factors under explicit geometry and sampling assumptions. A local asymmetry or inferred duration is not direct evidence of cell fate, mechanism or abnormal development.
Return two lineage-size ratio conventions and a share.
When to use this tool
Use Lineage Division Asymmetry Size Ratio when checking one supplied tissue, count or growth-model contribution.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter firstSize, secondSize. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read ratio, normalizedDifference, firstShare. Use the output convention below.
Return two lineage-size ratio conventions and a share. Require firstSize >= 0 and secondSize > 0; return first/second, (first-second)/(first+second) and first/(first+second).1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| firstSize | First Size | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| secondSize | Second Size | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| ratio | Ratio | Required. Finite number. |
| normalizedDifference | Normalized Difference | Required. Finite number. |
| firstShare | First Share | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Sizes share a measurement basis; the ratios do not establish asymmetric cell fate.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use appropriate biological observations and a complete validated model for developmental interpretation or experimental inference.
