Description

Return effective worker and consumer totals and their support ratio.

Demographic support and equivalence ratios depend on age cutoffs, participation and supplied household or consumer weights. Weighted population quantities describe the chosen accounting basis rather than actual needs or social value.

Return effective worker and consumer totals and their support ratio.

When to use this tool

Use Support Ratio Effective Workers Consumers when checking a supplied demographic classification or weighting convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter population, workerWeights, consumerWeights. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read effectiveWorkers, effectiveConsumers, supportRatio. Use the output convention below.

Return effective worker and consumer totals and their support ratio. Require aligned nonnegative population/weight arrays and positive consumer-weighted total; compute both dot products and divide workers by consumers.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Weights define equivalent roles, not actual employment or consumption; a full demographic-accounting model is not inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use documented population definitions and appropriate empirical weights for complete demographic or household analysis.
