Labor Force Entry Cohort Size Factor Tool

Calculate labor force entry cohort size factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return expected labor-force and employed cohort counts.

Demographic support and equivalence ratios depend on age cutoffs, participation and supplied household or consumer weights. Weighted population quantities describe the chosen accounting basis rather than actual needs or social value.

Return expected labor-force and employed cohort counts.

When to use this tool

Use Labor Force Entry Cohort Size Factor when checking a supplied demographic classification or weighting convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter cohort, survival, participation, employment. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read laborForce, employed. Use the output convention below.

Return expected labor-force and employed cohort counts. Require nonnegative whole cohort and survival/participation/employment fractions in [0,1]; multiply sequentially under conditional-fraction conventions.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Outputs may be fractional expectations; actual employment and model assumptions are not inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use documented population definitions and appropriate empirical weights for complete demographic or household analysis.
