Description

Return one cohort's supplied fiscal balance.

Demographic economic terms combine population, monetary flows, taxes and discount conventions. A local cohort contribution or supplied income comparison is not a complete fiscal projection, benefit entitlement or individual financial forecast.

Return one cohort's supplied fiscal balance.

When to use this tool

Use Population Fiscal Balance One Cohort when checking one declared cohort financial or fiscal contribution.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter population, taxPerPerson, servicePerPerson, transferPerPerson. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read revenue, expenditure, balance. Use the output convention below.

Return one cohort's supplied fiscal balance. Require nonnegative whole population and nonnegative per-person tax, service and transfer amounts; multiply each flow by population and subtract expenditures from revenue.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • All flows share currency and period; no actual fiscal incidence, policy rule or dynamic projection is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use complete population accounts, applicable policy and justified economic assumptions before making financial or public-policy decisions.
