Description
Return one household-equivalence component.
Demographic support and equivalence ratios depend on age cutoffs, participation and supplied household or consumer weights. Weighted population quantities describe the chosen accounting basis rather than actual needs or social value.
Return one household-equivalence component.
When to use this tool
Use Household Equivalence Component Term when checking a supplied demographic classification or weighting convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter members, suppliedMemberWeight. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read contribution. Use the output convention below.
Return one household-equivalence component. Require nonnegative whole members and nonnegative suppliedMemberWeight; contribution = members*weight.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| members | Members | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| suppliedMemberWeight | Supplied Member Weight | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| contribution | Contribution | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is one supplied weighted count, not a complete household scale or legal classification.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use documented population definitions and appropriate empirical weights for complete demographic or household analysis.
