Cohort Survival Person Years Term Tool

Calculate explicit survivor count times exposure years under an all-survivors-full-period convention, excluding exposure of nonsurvivors.

Description

Calculate supplied surviving-cohort and person-year terms.

Demographic economic terms depend on age-window boundaries, population scope, household equivalence units and supplied fiscal assumptions. A worker-share change is not an estimated demographic dividend, and endpoint survivors times duration differ from integrated life-table person-years. Local pension or subsidy calculations do not determine actual eligibility or entitlement.

Calculate supplied surviving-cohort and person-year terms.

When to use this tool

Use Cohort Survival Person Years Term when you already have cohortCount, survivalFraction, exposureYears and need to calculate supplied surviving-cohort and person-year terms.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter cohortCount, survivalFraction, exposureYears. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read survivors, survivorPersonYears. Use the output convention below.

Require cohortCount/exposureYears>=0 and survivalFraction in [0,1]; survivors=cohort*fraction, survivorPersonYears=survivors*years.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Survivors may be fractional. Multiplying endpoint survivors by time is not integrated cohort survival or a life table; no mortality or actual person-years are estimated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use complete population, cohort, labor and fiscal records with the chosen equivalence and exposure definitions. Review applicable benefit rules and estimate the appropriate model for policy analysis; one supplied allocation or accounting ratio does not establish behavior or economic effects.
