Description
Return the key-value-pair count of a fixmap header.
Binary and text framing can encode a payload size, container count or terminator. Those fields describe the following data but must still be checked against its actual bytes and complete structure.
Return the key-value-pair count of a fixmap header.
When to use this tool
Use MessagePack Fixmap Entry Count when decoding one bounded framing or header component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter header. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read entries. Use the output convention below.
Return the key-value-pair count of a fixmap header. Require whole header in [128,143]; entries = header-128.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| header | Header | Required. Safe integer; minimum 128; maximum 143. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| entries | Entries | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This does not decode keys/values or validate a complete map.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete parser for payload validity, nested containers, text encoding and record boundaries.
