Description
Return the item count in a fixarray header.
Binary and text framing can encode a payload size, container count or terminator. Those fields describe the following data but must still be checked against its actual bytes and complete structure.
Return the item count in a fixarray header.
When to use this tool
Use Msgpack Fixarray Header Count when decoding one bounded framing or header component.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter octet. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read count. Use the output convention below.
Return the item count in a fixarray header. Require whole octet in [144,159]; count = octet-144.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| octet | One numeric octet, from 0 through 255. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 144; maximum 159. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| count | Count | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- No element payload, nested container or full MessagePack value is decoded.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a complete parser for payload validity, nested containers, text encoding and record boundaries.
