Decoding: Ascii85 Partial Group Length Tool

Resolve the output-byte count of one ordinary Ascii85 final partial group of two through four symbols; excludes z shorthand and full groups.

Description

Return decoded-byte count for a final partial Ascii85 group.

Ascii85 uses full four-byte groups, final partial groups and a special all-zero shorthand. A group-length or shorthand helper does not validate all digits, numeric overflow or stream delimiters.

Return decoded-byte count for a final partial Ascii85 group.

When to use this tool

Use Decoding: Ascii85 Partial Group Length when checking one explicitly supported Ascii85 fragment.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter symbolCount. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read result. Expand result to inspect the returned fields.

Return decoded-byte count for a final partial Ascii85 group. Require whole symbolCount in [2,4]; decodedBytes = symbolCount-1.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • No symbols or padding values are inspected; full groups and z shorthand need different handling.
  • Outputs are nested inside result. Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the intended full Ascii85 implementation for actual byte decoding, framing and canonicality.
