Description

Count distinct representation sources and those supporting a selected label.

Source support, credit and authorization are different concepts. Supplied flags and vocabularies can support record bookkeeping but cannot independently establish consent, cultural authority, equitable credit or legal reuse rights.

Count distinct representation sources and those supporting a selected label.

When to use this tool

Use Public Representation Source Count when checking one explicitly supplied support, permission or credit convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter sourceIds, representationLabels, selectedLabel. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read distinctSources, matchingSources. Use the output convention below.

Count distinct representation sources and those supporting a selected label. Require aligned sourceIds/representationLabels; count unique IDs overall and unique IDs with at least one matching label.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Conflicting labels can share a source; counts do not establish representation quality or source independence.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Verify the actual provenance, permissions and relevant community expectations before reusing or interpreting material.
