Description
Return an unbounded enthalpy-based vapor fraction and flow term.
Cryogenic measurements and budgets depend on the fluid state, absolute temperatures and pressure reference, as well as compatible units. Local mass, heat or ideal-gas terms describe a supplied model without determining actual material properties or safe equipment operation.
Return an unbounded enthalpy-based vapor fraction and flow term.
When to use this tool
Use Cryogenic Transfer Line Flash Fraction Term when checking a supplied cryogenic measurement, reference-state conversion or engineering budget.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter inletSpecificEnthalpy, outletLiquidEnthalpy, outletVaporEnthalpy, massFlow. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read rawVaporFraction, vaporMassFlow. Use the output convention below.
Return an unbounded enthalpy-based vapor fraction and flow term. Require outletVaporEnthalpy > outletLiquidEnthalpy and massFlow >= 0; rawVaporFraction = (inletSpecificEnthalpy-outletLiquidEnthalpy)/(outletVaporEnthalpy-outletLiquidEnthalpy), vaporMassFlow = massFlow*fraction.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |

| inletSpecificEnthalpy | Inlet Specific Enthalpy | Required. Finite number. |
| outletLiquidEnthalpy | Outlet Liquid Enthalpy | Required. Finite number. |
| outletVaporEnthalpy | Outlet Vapor Enthalpy | Required. Finite number. |
| massFlow | Mass Flow | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| rawVaporFraction | Unclamped enthalpy fraction; values outside [0,1] remain visible. | Required. Finite number. |
| vaporMassFlow | massFlow times the raw fraction, in the input mass-flow unit. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Specific enthalpies share a unit/reference. Fractions outside [0,1] remain visible and do not describe a verified equilibrium mixture.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
