Boiloff Liquid Mass Gas Volume Factor Tool

Mass conservation and ideal-gas expansion at explicit conditions, without a ventilation or pressure-safety determination.

Description

Convert a supplied liquid amount into ideal-gas volume.

Cryogenic measurements and budgets depend on the fluid state, absolute temperatures and pressure reference, as well as compatible units. Local mass, heat or ideal-gas terms describe a supplied model without determining actual material properties or safe equipment operation.

Convert a supplied liquid amount into ideal-gas volume.

When to use this tool

Use Boiloff Liquid Mass Gas Volume Factor when checking a supplied cryogenic measurement, reference-state conversion or engineering budget.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter liquidVolume, liquidDensity, gasMolarMass, gasConstant, gasTemperatureK, gasPressure. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read mass, moles, gasVolume. Use the output convention below.

Convert a supplied liquid amount into ideal-gas volume. Require liquidVolume >= 0 and positive density, molar mass, gas constant, absolute pressure and kelvin temperature; mass = volume*density, moles = mass/molarMass, gasVolume = moles*R*T/P.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use a mutually consistent unit system, such as kg, kg/mol, Pa and J/(mol K); real-gas and phase behavior are omitted.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified state-specific properties and a complete qualified engineering assessment for practical cryogenic design, filling and handling.
