Description
Return real and imaginary parts of reciprocal acoustic impedance.
Signed and complex response quantities require an explicit convention as well as compatible units. A reciprocal, density change or loss magnitude can preserve algebra while the physical sign, frequency dependence and material interpretation remain separate questions.
Return real and imaginary parts of reciprocal acoustic impedance.
When to use this tool
Use Specific Acoustic Admittance Impedance Factor when converting the stated signed, complex or response-property basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter resistance, reactance. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read conductance, susceptance. Use the output convention below.
Return real and imaginary parts of reciprocal acoustic impedance. Require resistance²+reactance² > 0; conductance = resistance/denominator, susceptance = -reactance/denominator.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| resistance | Resistance | Required. Finite number. |
| reactance | Reactance | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| conductance | Conductance | Required. Finite number. |
| susceptance | Imaginary component of 1/(resistance+i*reactance); carries the negative reactance sign. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The sign assumes impedance resistance+i*reactance; this is a complex reciprocal, not independent reciprocals of the components.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the applicable SI/cgs, complex-phase and material-response conventions; use full tensor or frequency-dependent models where scalar relations are insufficient.
