Description
Return the complex reciprocal of a dynamic modulus.
Signed and complex response quantities require an explicit convention as well as compatible units. A reciprocal, density change or loss magnitude can preserve algebra while the physical sign, frequency dependence and material interpretation remain separate questions.
Return the complex reciprocal of a dynamic modulus.
When to use this tool
Use Dynamic Elastic Compliance Modulus Reciprocal when converting the stated signed, complex or response-property basis.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter storage, loss. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read complianceStorage, complianceLoss. Use the output convention below.
Return the complex reciprocal of a dynamic modulus. Require storage²+loss² > 0; complianceStorage = storage/denominator, complianceLoss = -loss/denominator.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| storage | Storage | Required. Finite number. |
| loss | Loss | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| complianceStorage | Compliance Storage | Required. Finite number. |
| complianceLoss | Algebraic imaginary reciprocal component, negative for positive modulus loss under storage+i*loss. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This assumes modulus storage+i*loss and returns the algebraic imaginary component; instrument loss-sign conventions may differ.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the applicable SI/cgs, complex-phase and material-response conventions; use full tensor or frequency-dependent models where scalar relations are insufficient.
