Description

Convert molar volume to mass-specific volume.

Amount, mass and volume bases are distinct. Converting among them requires the appropriate molar mass, density, solvent basis or gas reference state; no universal factor can replace these supplied conventions.

Convert molar volume to mass-specific volume.

When to use this tool

Use Molar Volume Mass Specific Volume Factor when converting the stated concentration, molar quantity or gas-volume basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter molarVolume, molarMass. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read specificVolume. Use the output convention below.

Convert molar volume to mass-specific volume. Require molarVolume >= 0 and molarMass > 0; specificVolume = molarVolume/molarMass.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
molarVolumeMolar VolumeRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
molarMassPositive mass per mole, using units consistent with the amount and mass bases above.Required. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
specificVolumeSpecific VolumeRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use m³/mol and kg/mol for m³/kg; units and thermodynamic state must already agree.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use explicit compatible units and verified composition/state data; use a full mixture or equation-of-state model when fixed-property assumptions do not apply.
