Description
Convert signed pressure to fluid head.
A physical ratio such as pressure head, viscosity, interface tension or mesh opening assumes supplied material properties and geometry. Its units can be consistent even when the model omits important interfaces, temperature effects or actual shape.
Convert signed pressure to fluid head.
When to use this tool
Use Pressure Head Fluid Density Reference when checking the stated fluid-property or geometric conversion.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter pressure, density, gravity. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read head. Use the output convention below.
Convert signed pressure to fluid head. Require density/gravity > 0; head = pressure/(density*gravity).1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| pressure | Pressure | Required. Finite number. |
| density | Density on the same physical and unit basis as the supplied reference or component; see the formula above. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| gravity | Gravity | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| head | Head | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use Pa, kg/m³ and m/s² for metres; density, pressure datum and hydrostatic assumptions are supplied.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
