Permeance Thickness Permeability Factor Tool

Calculate permeance thickness permeability factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Convert permeance to permeability for a supplied layer thickness.

Material-property conversions distinguish total quantities from values per area, mass, volume or thickness. Multiplication by a supplied density or geometry factor changes the basis only when its units and the material state agree with the original measurement.

Convert permeance to permeability for a supplied layer thickness.

When to use this tool

Use Permeance Thickness Permeability Factor when converting the stated material-property basis using compatible supplied quantities.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter permeance, thickness. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read permeability. Use the output convention below.

Convert permeance to permeability for a supplied layer thickness. Require permeance >= 0 and thickness > 0; permeability = permeance*thickness.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
permeancePermeanceRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.

Limitations and assumptions

  • The same pressure/activity driving-potential convention and consistent length units are required; multilayer resistance is not resolved.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified unit definitions and state-specific material data; model interfaces, layers and measurement geometry explicitly for complete physical calculations.
