Description

Return net purchase payment and reference value of retained quantity.

Consumer-study records can describe exposure, recall, option availability and purchase-value bases. Local record arithmetic preserves a supplied study or billing convention without measuring preferences, establishing memory accuracy or determining consumer rights.

Return net purchase payment and reference value of retained quantity.

When to use this tool

Use Reference Price Return Adjustment when checking a supplied consumer-record, recall-window, choice or basket convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter perceivedReference, purchaseValue, explicitRefund, returnedQuantity, originalQuantity. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read netPaid, referenceOnRetained. Use the output convention below.

Return net purchase payment and reference value of retained quantity. Require nonnegative amounts, originalQuantity > 0 and returned quantity within it; netPaid = purchaseValue-explicitRefund, retained reference = perceivedReference*(original-returned)/original.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Refunds are explicit and net paid may be negative; perceived reference is a whole-purchase value, not a per-item price.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use actual study data, validated measurement methods and applicable merchant/consumer rules for substantive behavioral or transaction conclusions.
