Description

Count available choice options after overlapping exclusions.

Consumer-study records can describe exposure, recall, option availability and purchase-value bases. Local record arithmetic preserves a supplied study or billing convention without measuring preferences, establishing memory accuracy or determining consumer rights.

Count available choice options after overlapping exclusions.

When to use this tool

Use Consumer Choice Available Option Budget when checking a supplied consumer-record, recall-window, choice or basket convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter offered, unavailable, disallowed, sharedExclusions. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read available. Use the output convention below.

Count available choice options after overlapping exclusions. Require bounded nonnegative whole offered/unavailable/disallowed/sharedExclusions and feasible union; available = offered-unavailable-disallowed+sharedExclusions.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Counts assume a valid shared-exclusion total; no actual option records or eligibility policy are evaluated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use actual study data, validated measurement methods and applicable merchant/consumer rules for substantive behavioral or transaction conclusions.
