Cell State Probability Mass Gap Tool

Calculate cell state probability mass gap from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Compare supplied cell-state probability mass with a target.

Computational biology distinguishes discrete counts, probabilistic weights, sequence indexes and logical rules. A supplied event or record flag can be summarized without simulating a stochastic process, validating a sequence annotation or establishing a biological mechanism.

Compare supplied cell-state probability mass with a target.

When to use this tool

Use Cell State Probability Mass Gap when checking the stated count, sequence, Boolean-rule or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter probabilities, expectedMass. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read mass, gap. Use the output convention below.

Compare supplied cell-state probability mass with a target. Require each probability and expectedMass in [0,1]; mass = sum(probabilities), gap = mass-expectedMass.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
probabilitiesProbabilitiesRequired. Array of finite number; maximum items 256.
expectedMassExpected MassRequired. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
massMassRequired. Finite number.
gapSigned difference under the stated comparison convention, with matching units.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Total mass can exceed one and is not normalized; no complete stochastic transition model is validated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the complete sequence, identifier universe or stochastic/logical model for actual inference, sampling and uncertainty analysis.
