Description

Update narrator-frame depth from supplied opens and closes.

Comparative-literature annotations connect editions, passages, speakers, structural frames and count units. Literal keys and normalized lengths can support consistent records while textual meaning, translation fidelity and bibliographic authority remain matters for source-aware editorial analysis.

Update narrator-frame depth from supplied opens and closes.

When to use this tool

Use Narrator Frame Depth Change when checking a supplied literary annotation, cross-edition offset or count convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter currentDepth, opens, closes. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read nextDepth, change. Use the output convention below.

Update narrator-frame depth from supplied opens and closes. Require nonnegative whole currentDepth/opens and closes <= currentDepth+opens; nextDepth = depth+opens-closes, change = opens-closes.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Events are aggregated as opens before closes; this does not validate their actual sequence or narrative interpretation.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the source editions and their annotation/counting policy for substantive literary, translation or provenance conclusions.
