Trial Reaction Time Unit Crosswalk

Convert an explicitly recorded nonnegative reaction time between seconds and milliseconds without excluding trials.

Description

Crosswalk a supplied nonnegative reaction time between seconds and milliseconds.

Cognitive-task records distinguish stimuli, responses, exposure order, rating scales and adaptive timing. A stop-delay update does not estimate inhibition latency, and a screen-coordinate mapping is not a calibrated perceptual measure. Supplied observations and task flags do not themselves establish ability, diagnosis or a psychological mechanism.

Crosswalk a supplied nonnegative reaction time between seconds and milliseconds.

When to use this tool

Use Trial Reaction Time Unit Crosswalk when you already have reactionTime, inputIsMilliseconds and need to crosswalk a supplied nonnegative reaction time between seconds and milliseconds.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter reactionTime, inputIsMilliseconds. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read seconds, milliseconds. Use the output convention below.

Require reactionTime>=0; divide by 1000 for millisecond input or multiply by 1000 for second input, preserving both unit outputs.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
reactionTimeReaction TimeRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
inputIsMillisecondsInput Is MillisecondsRequired. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • No trial, stimulus/response onset, clock correction, outlier rule, cognition or clinical result is determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the complete experimental protocol, stimulus calibration, observation records and analysis plan. Use an appropriate full task and statistical analysis for a research interpretation; local timing, rating and coordinate transformations preserve only their declared conventions.
