Description
Measure a supplied target-minus-prime onset asynchrony.
Cognitive-task records distinguish stimuli, responses, exposure order, rating scales and adaptive timing. A stop-delay update does not estimate inhibition latency, and a screen-coordinate mapping is not a calibrated perceptual measure. Supplied observations and task flags do not themselves establish ability, diagnosis or a psychological mechanism.
Measure a supplied target-minus-prime onset asynchrony.
When to use this tool
Use Priming Target Onset Asynchrony when you already have primeOnset, targetOnset and need to measure a supplied target-minus-prime onset asynchrony.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter primeOnset, targetOnset. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.
Return targetOnset-primeOnset.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| primeOnset | Prime Onset | Required. Finite number. |
| targetOnset | Target Onset | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| signedGap | Signed Gap | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Signed values are retained and timing units must match. No stimulus timing, priming effect, response or causal cognitive mechanism is verified.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the complete experimental protocol, stimulus calibration, observation records and analysis plan. Use an appropriate full task and statistical analysis for a research interpretation; local timing, rating and coordinate transformations preserve only their declared conventions.
