Attentional Cue SOA Sign

Calculate supplied target-minus-cue onset asynchrony, with positive values meaning the cue occurred first.

Loading tool…

Description

Measure a supplied attentional-cue-to-target onset gap.

Cognitive-task records distinguish stimuli, responses, exposure order, rating scales and adaptive timing. A stop-delay update does not estimate inhibition latency, and a screen-coordinate mapping is not a calibrated perceptual measure. Supplied observations and task flags do not themselves establish ability, diagnosis or a psychological mechanism.

Measure a supplied attentional-cue-to-target onset gap.

When to use this tool

Use Attentional Cue SOA Sign when you already have cueOnset, targetOnset and need to measure a supplied attentional-cue-to-target onset gap.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter cueOnset, targetOnset. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read signedGap. Use the output convention below.

Return targetOnset-cueOnset with signs preserved.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

Limitations and assumptions

  • No actual cue/target, timing, attention effect, task validity or cognitive state is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the complete experimental protocol, stimulus calibration, observation records and analysis plan. Use an appropriate full task and statistical analysis for a research interpretation; local timing, rating and coordinate transformations preserve only their declared conventions.
