Temporal Bisection Single Trial Ratio

Express a supplied temporal-bisection probe relative to explicit short and long anchors without clipping extrapolated values.

Description

Locate a supplied probe duration relative to short and long anchors.

Cognitive-task records distinguish stimuli, responses, exposure order, rating scales and adaptive timing. A stop-delay update does not estimate inhibition latency, and a screen-coordinate mapping is not a calibrated perceptual measure. Supplied observations and task flags do not themselves establish ability, diagnosis or a psychological mechanism.

Locate a supplied probe duration relative to short and long anchors.

When to use this tool

Use Temporal Bisection Single Trial Ratio when you already have probeDuration, shortAnchor, longAnchor and need to locate a supplied probe duration relative to short and long anchors.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter probeDuration, shortAnchor, longAnchor. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read anchorPosition. Use the output convention below.

Require probe/short durations>=0 and long>short; return (probe-short)/(long-short).1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

shortAnchorShort AnchorRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
longAnchorLong AnchorRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
anchorPosition(probeDuration-shortAnchor)/(longAnchor-shortAnchor); probes outside the anchors are accepted.Required. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Probes outside anchors give values outside [0,1]. No perceptual bisection, response probability, appropriate anchors or cognitive parameter is estimated.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review the complete experimental protocol, stimulus calibration, observation records and analysis plan. Use an appropriate full task and statistical analysis for a research interpretation; local timing, rating and coordinate transformations preserve only their declared conventions.
