Description
Return conversion/selectivity product yield.
Process balances distinguish fresh, recycled, purged and reacted quantities on a common time and material basis. Local residuals or geometric retention factors can diagnose supplied bookkeeping, while actual steady state, feasible composition and reaction performance require a complete physical model.
Return conversion/selectivity product yield.
When to use this tool
Use Reactor Conversion Selectivity Yield Crosswalk when checking the stated recycle, purge, conversion or balance convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter feedReactant, conversion, selectivity, productPerReactant. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read consumedReactant, desiredProduct, feedBasisYield. Use the output convention below.
Return conversion/selectivity product yield. Require feedReactant/productPerReactant >= 0 and conversion/selectivity in [0,1]; consumed = feed*conversion, feedBasisYield = conversion*selectivity, desiredProduct = consumed*selectivity*stoichiometric factor.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| feedReactant | Feed Reactant | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| conversion | Conversion | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| selectivity | Selectivity | Required. Finite number; minimum 0; maximum 1. |
| productPerReactant | Supplied desired-product amount per reacted-reactant amount on compatible amount bases. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| consumedReactant | Consumed Reactant | Required. Finite number. |
| desiredProduct | Desired Product | Required. Finite number. |
| feedBasisYield | Feed Basis Yield | Required. Finite number. |

"input": {

} Limitations and assumptions
- Reactant/product units must match the supplied factor; no selectivity definition, reaction feasibility or actual process performance is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile every relevant stream and component with compatible units; validate the complete steady-state or dynamic process model and actual material properties.
