Recycle Purge Component Share Tool

Split one explicitly supplied recycle-stream component through a purge, without solving a process.

Loading tool…

Description

Split a recycle component between purge and return.

Process balances distinguish fresh, recycled, purged and reacted quantities on a common time and material basis. Local residuals or geometric retention factors can diagnose supplied bookkeeping, while actual steady state, feasible composition and reaction performance require a complete physical model.

Split a recycle component between purge and return.

When to use this tool

Use Recycle Purge Component Share when checking the stated recycle, purge, conversion or balance convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter recycleStreamMass, componentFraction, purgeFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read componentInStream, componentPurged, componentReturned. Use the output convention below.

Split a recycle component between purge and return. Require recycleStreamMass >= 0 and component/purge fractions in [0,1]; componentInStream = mass*composition, purged multiplies purge fraction, returned subtracts purged.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • This assumes a uniform-composition split; actual component identity, mixing and steady state are not established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile every relevant stream and component with compatible units; validate the complete steady-state or dynamic process model and actual material properties.
