Description
Correct projected Doppler velocity by a supplied beam angle.
Cardiac measurement formulas depend on geometry, units, calibration and reference origins. A Doppler projection correction, echo disc-volume contribution or waveform integral evaluates supplied quantities without validating image acquisition, signal quality or physiological interpretation.
Correct projected Doppler velocity by a supplied beam angle.
When to use this tool
Use Echo Doppler Velocity Angle Factor when checking one supplied cardiac measurement, geometry or calibration term.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter measuredProjection, beamAngleRadians, angleUncertaintyRadians. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read correctedVelocity, cosineFactor, localAngleSensitivity. Use the output convention below.
Correct projected Doppler velocity by a supplied beam angle. Require angle strictly between -pi/2 and pi/2 and uncertainty >= 0; correctedVelocity = projection/cos(angle), cosineFactor = 1/cos(angle), localAngleSensitivity = projection*sin(angle)*uncertainty/cos²(angle).1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| measuredProjection | Measured Projection | Required. Finite number. |
| beamAngleRadians | Signed beam angle in radians; cosine must be positive. | Required. Finite number. |
| angleUncertaintyRadians | Angle Uncertainty Radians Unit: rad. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| correctedVelocity | Corrected Velocity | Required. Finite number. |
| cosineFactor | Cosine Factor | Required. Finite number. |
| localAngleSensitivity | Signed first-order change including angleUncertaintyRadians, not a derivative alone or full uncertainty bound. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Angles are radians; the last value is a signed first-order uncertainty-scaled change, not the derivative alone or a full error bound.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use validated acquisition and calibration, a complete appropriate measurement method and qualified clinical interpretation; assess measurement uncertainty and model assumptions separately.
