Pressure Transducer Hydrostatic Offset Term Tool

Subtract a supplied hydrostatic column offset, height positive above the reference; no device setup or clinical pressure target.

Description

Return a hydrostatic pressure-offset correction.

Cardiac measurement formulas depend on geometry, units, calibration and reference origins. A Doppler projection correction, echo disc-volume contribution or waveform integral evaluates supplied quantities without validating image acquisition, signal quality or physiological interpretation.

Return a hydrostatic pressure-offset correction.

When to use this tool

Use Pressure Transducer Hydrostatic Offset Term when checking one supplied cardiac measurement, geometry or calibration term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter fluidDensity, gravity, heightDifference, pressurePa. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read offsetPa, correctedPressurePa. Use the output convention below.

Return a hydrostatic pressure-offset correction. Require fluidDensity/gravity > 0; offsetPa = rho*g*heightDifference, correctedPressurePa = pressurePa-offsetPa.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
fluidDensityFluid DensityRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.

pressurePaPressure PaRequired. Finite number.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
offsetPafluidDensity*gravity*heightDifference; subtracted from pressurePa.Required. Finite number.
correctedPressurePaCorrected Pressure PaRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Use kg/m³, m/s² and signed metres for pascals; height sign and measurement geometry are supplied, not clinically verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use validated acquisition and calibration, a complete appropriate measurement method and qualified clinical interpretation; assess measurement uncertainty and model assumptions separately.
