ECG Heart Period Frequency Crosswalk Tool

Interval-to-frequency uncertainty envelope, without determining a normal range or a rhythm diagnosis.

Description

Convert heart period and a bounded symmetric period uncertainty to frequency bounds.

Cardiac recordings use sample indexes, time origins, event markers and observation windows. A sample-grid count, interval conversion or phase comparison operates on supplied records; it does not detect an actual heartbeat, validate an ECG or determine a clinical diagnosis.

Convert heart period and a bounded symmetric period uncertainty to frequency bounds.

When to use this tool

Use ECG Heart Period Frequency Crosswalk when checking the stated cardiac-record indexing, timing, phase or coverage convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter periodMs, periodUncertaintyMs. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read frequencyHz, beatsPerMinute, lowerBpm, upperBpm. Use the output convention below.

Convert heart period and a bounded symmetric period uncertainty to frequency bounds. Require periodMs > 0 and uncertainty in [0,period); Hz = 1000/period, bpm = 60000/period, lowerBpm uses period+uncertainty and upper uses period-uncertainty.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Bounds are deterministic and asymmetric after inversion; no confidence level, measured rhythm or safe rate is determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the actual recording, acquisition settings and event annotations; use validated analysis and qualified clinical interpretation for patient-related decisions.
