ECG Half Cycle Boundary Policy Tool

Assign a supplied normalized trace phase to halves with explicit midpoint ownership; no rhythm interpretation.

Description

Classify a supplied cardiac phase into two halves.

Cardiac recordings use sample indexes, time origins, event markers and observation windows. A sample-grid count, interval conversion or phase comparison operates on supplied records; it does not detect an actual heartbeat, validate an ECG or determine a clinical diagnosis.

Classify a supplied cardiac phase into two halves.

When to use this tool

Use ECG Half Cycle Boundary Policy when checking the stated cardiac-record indexing, timing, phase or coverage convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter phaseFraction, boundaryToSecondHalf. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read half. Use the output convention below.

Classify a supplied cardiac phase into two halves. Require phaseFraction in [0,1); values below 0.5 are first half, above second, equality follows boundaryToSecondHalf.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
phaseFractionPhase FractionRequired. Finite number; minimum 0; strictly below 1.
boundaryToSecondHalfBoundary To Second HalfRequired. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
halfHalfRequired. Safe integer.

Limitations and assumptions

  • This is a caller-defined phase label, not actual systole/diastole detection or a physiological assessment.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the actual recording, acquisition settings and event annotations; use validated analysis and qualified clinical interpretation for patient-related decisions.
