Cardiac Research Stroke Volume Balance Tool

Explicit research stroke-volume outflow ledger; negative forward volume remains an input-consistency signal, without diagnostic interpretation.

Description

Return total and loss-adjusted forward stroke-volume terms.

Cardiac measurement formulas depend on geometry, units, calibration and reference origins. A Doppler projection correction, echo disc-volume contribution or waveform integral evaluates supplied quantities without validating image acquisition, signal quality or physiological interpretation.

Return total and loss-adjusted forward stroke-volume terms.

When to use this tool

Use Cardiac Research Stroke Volume Balance when checking one supplied cardiac measurement, geometry or calibration term.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter endDiastolicVolume, endSystolicVolume, regurgitantVolume, shuntLoss. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read totalStrokeVolume, forwardVolume, forwardFraction. Use the output convention below.

Return total and loss-adjusted forward stroke-volume terms. Require EDV > ESV >= 0 and nonnegative regurgitantVolume/shuntLoss; totalStrokeVolume = EDV-ESV, forwardVolume subtracts both losses, forwardFraction = forward/total.1

Disc summation combines geometric volume contributions. Ventricular ejection fraction uses chamber end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes; a supplied forward-flow fraction is a different quantity.2

Limitations and assumptions

  • Forward values can be negative under inconsistent supplied losses; this is not ejection fraction, an echo measurement or a treatment decision.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use validated acquisition and calibration, a complete appropriate measurement method and qualified clinical interpretation; assess measurement uncertainty and model assumptions separately.
