Remediation Sample Detection Flag

Compare an explicit sample result with a supplied detection limit and equality policy without substituting censored values.

Loading tool…

Description

Compare a supplied sample value with a supplied detection threshold.

Remediation record terms depend on sample identities, concentration bases, timing and quality-control conventions. Relative duplicate gap is a fraction with a specified denominator, while signed readings can be accepted without being physically meaningful. Local calculations do not establish contaminant removal, environmental safety or an effective treatment.

Compare a supplied sample value with a supplied detection threshold.

When to use this tool

Use Remediation Sample Detection Flag when you already have sampleValue, suppliedDetectionLimit, equalityCounts and need to compare a supplied sample value with a supplied detection threshold.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter sampleValue, suppliedDetectionLimit, equalityCounts. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read detectedUnderPolicy. Inspect detectedUnderPolicy before interpreting the associated values.

Require suppliedDetectionLimit>=0; use >= when equalityCounts=true, otherwise >.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
sampleValueSample ValueRequired. Finite number.
suppliedDetectionLimitSupplied Detection LimitRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
equalityCountsEquality CountsRequired. Boolean.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
detectedUnderPolicyDetected Under PolicyRequired. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Sample values may be signed. No analytical method, uncertainty, actual detection, contamination status, cleanup standard or safe condition is determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review original laboratory and field records with the complete sampling, calibration and remediation assessment. Check detection limits, units and applicable quality criteria before interpreting a local comparison or supplied process record.
