Censored Removal Bound Width Tool

Propagate a supplied residual-amount interval through initial-minus-residual, retaining possible negative removal.

Description

Return removal bounds from a residual interval.

Environmental-remediation bookkeeping uses explicit water, soil, dry-mass, concentration and sampling bases. A local mass residual, censored-result bound or supplied target margin does not identify a removal mechanism, establish representativeness or determine an environmentally acceptable contaminant level.

Return removal bounds from a residual interval.

When to use this tool

Use Censored Removal Bound Width when checking the stated remediation measurement, mass/volume balance or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter initial, residualLower, residualUpper. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read removalLower, removalUpper, width. Use the output convention below.

Return removal bounds from a residual interval. Require initial >= 0 and 0 <= residualLower <= residualUpper; removalLower = initial-residualUpper, removalUpper = initial-residualLower, width = residualUpper-residualLower.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Negative removal is retained when residual exceeds initial; these are deterministic supplied bounds, not confidence limits or evidence of treatment success.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified sampling and analytical data, consistent material/unit bases and a complete transport or treatment model; involve qualified environmental professionals for practical or regulatory decisions.
