Bioremediation Residual Mass Balance Term Tool

Calculate bioremediation residual mass balance term from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return a mass-balance residual including sample removal.

Environmental-remediation bookkeeping uses explicit water, soil, dry-mass, concentration and sampling bases. A local mass residual, censored-result bound or supplied target margin does not identify a removal mechanism, establish representativeness or determine an environmentally acceptable contaminant level.

Return a mass-balance residual including sample removal.

When to use this tool

Use Bioremediation Residual Mass Balance Term when checking the stated remediation measurement, mass/volume balance or support convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter opening, input, output, sampled, measuredClosing. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read expectedClosing, residual. Use the output convention below.

Return a mass-balance residual including sample removal. Require nonnegative opening/input/output/sampled/measuredClosing; expectedClosing = opening+input-output-sampled, residual = measured-expected.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Expected closing can be negative because losses are not constrained by availability; actual mass closure, degradation and environmental safety are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified sampling and analytical data, consistent material/unit bases and a complete transport or treatment model; involve qualified environmental professionals for practical or regulatory decisions.
